79 – Your Kids Will Inherit Your Money Story w/ Stephone Allen

Aug 15

Your kids are going to inherit your relationship with money.

Not just the money you leave them.

The stories.
The beliefs.
The habits.
The fears.
The way you earn it, spend it, save it — and talk about it when you think they aren’t listening.

Most of us were never actually taught how to lead our families financially.

We learned how to balance a checkbook. Maybe make a budget. Then we were sent into adulthood and expected to figure out debt, investing, retirement, insurance, providing for a family, building wealth — and eventually teaching our children how to handle money themselves.

So we do what humans do.

We inherit a money story from our parents. They inherited theirs from their parents. And unless somebody decides to question it, we pass it down.

Stephone Allen grew up without money. Made plenty of his own mistakes with it. And eventually realized:

We don’t have to struggle just because the people before us did.

Providing isn’t just making more money.

It’s becoming financially educated. Living beneath your means. Delaying gratification. Building something for the future. Actually DOING something with what you learn.

And then teaching your children differently — not only by what you tell them, but by what they watch you do.

Because at some point in every family line, somebody has to decide:

This doesn’t have to keep going.

Learn better.
Build better.
Leave better.
